This past weekend’s ANC National Executive Council (NEC), the highest decision-making body of the ruling party’s meeting had multiple leaks, with prominent ANC Leaders sharing their thoughts on the state of the organization’s factions.
In another leak, during the ANC’s NEC virtual meeting, ANC treasurer-general, Paul Mashatile, is heard saying the party was now working on a process to cut its staff by 50%.
“”Officials have agreed that we’ve probably had to cut our staff by 50%. But those reports will come to the NEC. A lot of work is being undertaken. Comrade Febe is leading the process of restructuring and right-sizing,”

Step Aside Resolution
In a longer version of the clip he also speaks on the contentious ‘stepping aside’ resolution, which over the last week saw the Secretary General of the party Ace Magashule being suspended, who subsequently suspended President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Mashatile also broke down what needs to happen to members of the organization who had voluntarily stepped aside, as per the NEC resolution:
“During the process he/she has stepped aside as an elected office bearer, we are saying here that such an office bearer may not carry out the duties and responsibilities of his or her office. May not represent the organization, publicly or in any other forum. May not make public pronouncements on matters related to the organization, may not engage in mobilization of ANC structures, or any other organizations or individuals including on his stepping aside matters related to

ANC to take legal action
Party spokesperson Pule Mabe says a legal team is looking into the matter of this past weekend’s leaks, adding that the party condemns it, and will deal with the leaking of information and internal discussions.
