On the cancellation of the contract
“We don’t know a lot of the details regarding the cancellation of the contract, they issued documents that states that they had a clause on the contract that terminates the contract within 90 days. 3 months from the now the Department of Correctional Services will take over the running of the prison, I am sure that after that, litigation will follow, but that should affect the fact that after 90 days DCS will take over the running of the prison.”
On unfolding arrests in the controversial case
“The committee is deeply concerned about what happened in the Thabo Bester debacle, the first thing is people are now being arrested 12 months after the fact, which is also a grave concern. “
On staff working at the G4S prison
“It would not be ideal to keep the staff that are now running the place without new blood, different supervision and requirements for consequence management.”
