Last week, on The Morning show, we spoke about Christmas trees, and as it turned out, many people did not have them growing up.
But what most South Africans looked forward to was Christmas clothes – assuming that tradition still goes on.
This morning, Thomas and Skhumba ask Kaya 959 listeners if they have bought new clothes for Christmas.
Thomas remembers his grandmother taking him shopping around this time of the year back in his hometown. The tradition changed for him after he moved to the suburbs. His kids do not even know what Christmas clothes are.
Skhumba said that his mother used to buy him Christmas clothes every year. He is also doing the same for his four children.
Reactions from kaya 959 listeners
Richard said that he bought all the Christmas clothes online and the children are happy.
A listener revealed that he had already bought Christmas clothes for his children. But now they want him to buy All-Stars and Adidas flip-flops.
Anonymous shares, “My baby daddy blocked me across all social media platforms since August because he is nowhere to be found around December.”
Another listener pleads with parents to do the right thing. “Let’s stop making the kids suffer and do the right thing and not only post expensive alcohol at parties. Let’s be responsible,” he said.
Mpumi asked the station to call the father of her children, an avid listener of the show, to do what is right for his kids and buy them Christmas clothes.
