The second docket in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has been dismissed as it holds no merit.
This according to a letter by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) who ruled that the second docket was “just an internal opinion from a Junior State Advocate which was without merit.”
Defence attorney Advocate Malesela Teffo submitted the docket to the court last week. The controversial advocate claims the docket pins Kelly Khumalo, the ex-girlfriend of Senzo Meyiwa and her mother as his killers.
The docket that now holds no merit named Khumalo, her mother Gladness, sister Zandi and her boyfriend Longwe Twala, Maggie Phiri, Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Twala as prime suspects. Stating the occupants of the house at the time the former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates footballer was gunned down should be charged for murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Khumalo’s attorney Magdalene Moonsamy argued that the second docket was never brought to their attention and said her client had never been questioned about it.
Adv. Teffo is representing four of the five men accused for murdering Senzo Meyiwa in what is described as a botched home robbery.
The footballer was shot at Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus in 2014.
