The desperate search for a 6-year old boy who fell into a manhole in Soweto on Sunday, will resume on Tuesday morning.
Search and Rescue personnel from the City of Johannesburg and EMS Rescue Unit abandoned the search on Monday, 13 June.
The boy was reportedly playing near the open manhole on Sunday, 12 June when he fell.
MMC for Environment Infrastructure Service Department for City of Joburg, Councillor Michael Sun assured the community that every effort will be made to find the boy.
The boy fell into an exposed manhole in Dlamini, Mtambo Street near Eco Park.
In September last year, the body of another 6-year old boy was found in Evaton, after he slipped into a manhole in Orange Farm.
This boy’s body was discovered two days after he had fallen into the sewerage stream while he was playing with friends.
According to reports, the incident was only reported to authorities on Monday. Joburg Water said it was unclear why they were not notified sooner.
This is a developing story.
