The infamous second docket in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial was presented to the court on Wednesday, bringing proceedings to a grinding halt.
Pinning Kelly Khumalo and her mother as key suspects in the footballer’s murder, the docket has caused quit a stir. Khumalo’s lawyer, Magdalene Moonsamy says the contents of the second docket has not been disclosed to either of them.
Speaking to media, Moonsamy said Kelly Khumalo had never been questioned regarding what is contained in the second docket.
Why there is a second docket in the murder trial is another puzzling question, as this is not the norm.
Advocate Malesela Teffo was apparently the only one who was privy to the second docket. Representing four of the five men accused for the footballer’s murder, Malesela argued that the second docket was entered into the public domain before the trial began.
Earlier this week, Adv. Teffo and Adv. Zandile Moshololo revealed that the crime scene was tampered with before police arrived.
According to Adv. Teffo the two dockets present different cases for the same murder. In the one, which is presented to court currently, the five men are responsible for Meyiwa’s death.
The second pins the occupants of the house, Kelly Khumalo and her mother as the prime suspects.
As it stands the docket was not handed to the prosecution and was only given to Adv Moshololo who is representing one of the suspects on Wednesday.
She requested more time to go through the docket in order to continue her cross-examination of the state’s first witness, Sergeant Thabo Mosia.
The case will resume on Monday, 13 June.
