Rand Water has revised dates for next week’s planned shutdown, extending the shutdown by an additional day, and advising residents to store water ahead.
The planned shutdown which was scheduled from 19h00 on Tuesday, 11 July to 15h00 on Thursday, 13 July, will now end at 05h00 on Friday, 14 July.
In a statement, the water utility urged residents in affected areas to store water ahead of the shutdown to avoid being drastically inconvenienced.
“The scheduled shutdown is to complete a tie-in between the A19 and B14 with a new pipeline, installation of isolation valves, and systems upgrades at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station.
Rand Water’s Daleside pump station will also be impacted during the shutdown, as well as Johannesburg’s Yeoville reservoir.”
The following Rand Water reservoirs will be affected:
- Waterval 1 and 2
- Roodepoort
- Weltevreden
- Meredale 1 and 2
- Foresthill 1, 2 and 3
