In a Blind Spot from this week, Anonymous revealed that his family is mad at him after finding out through his sister, who works for him, that business was going well. As a result, he fired his sister for sharing confidential business information and wants to know if he was in the wrong.
“A few years ago, I resigned from work, started a business, and downgraded. My wife and family were made aware so that everyone understood that I could not help financially like I used to. However, in the past year, business has finally picked up, and it is booming. I have not told anyone because I want to invest and save. As you know, things can change at any time.
“One of my finance staff told my sister who works that things are going well and everyone will get bonuses at the end of the year. My sister immediately confronted me, which means she is mad that I did not disclose that things are going well. She even went as far as telling my parents and my wife.
“Now everyone is mad at me, saying that I have been lying and that If I didn’t want to help financially, I should have just said so. I even fired my sister for discussing private business matters. Am I the wrong one in this situation? I was going to tell them eventually.”
