A 27-year old man has been arrested for allegedly hacking his family members to death with an axe in Breda village, Limpopo.
According to Limpopo police, the man hacked his 59-year old mother, 19-year old sister, and his 10-year old nephew to death on Monday, 10 July.
Police arrived on scene to the gruesome scene to find all three family members dead on scene.
The man is expected to appear at the Mahwelereng Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 12 July.
While the motive for the brutal murders are unknown at this stage, neighbours report that there appeared to be an issue of domestic violence before the family were killed.
“Police responded to the complaint at 11h00 after community members alerted them to domestic violence taking place at the house where an elderly son allegedly hacked his own mother with an axe, then went after his sister and nephew.
Upon arrival on scene, the three victims were certified dead by paramedics, whereas the suspect was arrested shortly near his home.”
The victims were Johanna Seanego, Matome Seanego and Tebogo Mashilo Seanego.
Limpopo Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe condemned the senseless killing and urged the community to seek professional help when facing domestic disputes.
