It’s Restaurant Week in South Africa, with more than 200 restaurants offering special multi-course menus at fixed prices starting from R295.

Running across Johannesburg, Pretoria and other parts of the country, the event gives diners a chance to experience restaurants they may have been curious about, try signature dishes and enjoy a fine-dining experience at a more accessible price.

For restaurants, it’s also an opportunity to welcome new customers and introduce them to their menus, with the hope that a first visit turns into a regular booking.

The concept dates back to New York City in 1992, when restaurateurs Tim Zagat and Joe Baum first introduced Restaurant Week.

Since then, the idea has spread to cities around the world, including Tokyo, London and destinations across South Africa, from Cape Town and the Winelands to Durban.

The spring edition of Restaurant Week South Africa 2026 runs until Sunday, 1 November 2026.

Whether you’re planning a date night, celebrating an anniversary or simply looking for a reason to try a new place, here are five restaurants to consider.

1. Marble (South African)

One of Johannesburg’s best-known dining destinations, Marble celebrates cooking with fire. Chef David Higgs’ restaurant pairs bold South African flavours with an open-flame kitchen and sweeping views of the city.

For Restaurant Week, diners can enjoy Marble’s three-course Flame-Grilled Lunch for R495.

The menu includes a choice of starters such as grilled game, fire-roasted chicken arancini or roasted heirloom beetroot. For mains, options include grilled seabass, beef fillet churrasco or barley risotto, followed by passionfruit pavlova or an ice-cream sandwich for dessert.

There is also a two-course Flame-Grilled Lunch for R395, offering another way to experience the restaurant.

2. SINN (Italian)

The menu includes beef carpaccio, salmon cannoli or roasted butternut and feta arancini for starters. Main-course options include artichoke ravioli, wood-fired short rib, seafood pizza or creamy grilled chicken.

To finish, diners can choose between frozen Eton mess and classic tiramisu for dessert.

La Boqueria has become a Parktown North favourite for its lively atmosphere and Spanish-inspired menu. With lush greenery, a striking bar and a kitchen built around fire, smoke and bold flavours, it’s a good option for a long lunch or dinner that turns into drinks.

For Restaurant Week, diners can enjoy a three-course meal for R495 per person.

Starters include crispy squid, oxtail empanada, jamón croquetas or wood-fired goat’s cheese. Mains range from rump picanha and pescado a la brasa to ribs de la calle and paella de marisco.

Dessert options include churros con chocolate, chocolate nemesis or Basque cheesecake.

4. Pink Mama’s (Italian)

For Restaurant Week, the menu includes dishes such as lamb ravioli and veal limone, with pistachio tiramisu among the sweet options for R545 per person.
