South African actress and and businesswoman Gail Mabalane has opened up about her struggles with alopecia, or hair loss.
The actress shared with her followers by sharing a snapshot in which she describes how she lost her hair.
Alopecia is an autoimmune condition that results in hair loss, frequently in quarter-sized clumps.
She revealed that she first discovered she was balding in places from the centre of her head to her sensitive scalp three years ago.

Mabalane mentioned that September is Alopecia Universal Awareness Month, bringing hope to the many women who suffer from the condition. Both men and women can get alopecia, which results in the loss of scalp, face, and body hair.
“This is way more prevalent than we think. From receding hairlines to bald patches to hair loss that starts in the middle of the head to scalp sensitivity. 🙏🏾 We, (women especially) have just become so good at hiding it and “suffering” / fighting it in silence. September is #AlopeciaAwarenessMonth”
“My wish, is for everyone who is experiencing hair loss to know that you are not alone. I know that the experience comes with a ton of emotions. When we work through them, we come out stronger on the other side.” she wrote.
She said earlier this year that the anguish of experiencing hair loss and her suffering were the sources of her hair range.
Since then, she has partnered with Clicks to introduce a revolutionary new product called Ethnogenics.
