EFF Commander in Chief Julius Malema has challenged President Cyril Ramaphosa to remove the soldiers off the streets and meet with communities on the ground.
Speaking during the EFF’s 8th birthday celebrations, Malema said Ramaphosa should go and confront the people instead of hiding behind the uniform.
He launched a scathing attack on the President following the apparent insurrection in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng two weeks ago.
Both provinces were hit by violent riots and looting after former president Jacob Zuma handed himself over to prison officials to begin his 15-months imprisonment for contempt of court.
Since calm has been restored to both provinces, the SANDF remains deployed at hot spot areas.
Malema called on Ramaphosa to confront the realities experienced by communities on a daily basis.
“If you are man Ramaphosa and you are elected by the people of South Africa who love you and that you did not buy the Presidency through the money of the white monopoly capital, then go and speak to the masses on the ground. You cannot threaten them with soldiers,” Malema said.

Soldiers help recover looted items
He said once Ramaphosa listened to the masses, then they would be able to defend those who speak out against the government.
“In your cowardice style, the only solution you know is killing our people. The same way you did in Marikana and the same way you do today when people challenge your authority,” he said.
Malema called on communities not to be afraid of soldiers.
Soldiers have also been assisting police on the ground with recovering goods that were looted from shops, malls and businesses in both provinces.
Malema further slammed the soldiers for collecting food from the poor communities.
“Soldiers must go and fight soldiers. Soldiers must go and fight guns with guns,” he said.
