The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested and charged a 22-year-old high school pupil following the circulation of a social media video depicting a physical altercation.
The footage shows a male individual assaulting a 21-year-old woman.
The suspect is scheduled to make his initial appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on 12 June 2026.
In a formal statement, the police urged the public to remain patient while the legal process unfolds, stating:
“We strongly plead for calm and space to allow the police investigation to take its natural course. The SAPS views all acts of violence, particularly against the vulnerable, in a serious light and is committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
