Musician Simphiwe Dana recently took to social media to share that she has been turning down requests from other artists to sample her music for the past decade. This decision has inspired the Siz the World team to also open up about rejecting opportunities that didn’t align with their brands.
Mfundo Mabalane revealed that a new cigar company had approached her for a collaboration, but she turned it down as it didn’t match her brand.
“If you check my page, I am a news anchor. It would be diluting my brand. It is not what I stand for. I’ve never even tried a cigar,” said Mfundo.
Sol Phenduka also had to turn down a few gigs as well.
“They once asked me to present a sporting show, but it was about promoting gambling and betting. I’ve had gambling problems in the past, and with all the messaging I sent out, I couldn’t.”
The team’s discussion resonated with listeners, who also shared their experiences of turning down opportunities that didn’t align with their values.
