A listener recently contacted The Best T in the City to open up about her struggle with feeling unworthy of love. She explained that despite her husband being loving and supportive, her insecurities overshadow his affection. As a plus-size woman, she worries that others will judge her for being with a fit and attractive man.
‘I have been with my boyfriend for 5 months now. While things are good and going well, I can’t help but feel like I don’t deserve him. He is so handsome that I always ask myself why he chose me. I am a plus-size girl and my man is a gym freak. He honestly has never passed any bad comments about my weight like how exes used to; instead, he is so reassuring.
“He always compliments me, and I can tell he genuinely loves me, but my insecurities are just getting the better of me. I don’t feel confident walking with him in public, I always feel like people judge him when he is with me. I get jealous when I see women looking at him.
“I feel like I am not good enough for him and I always ask him why he chose me, and he always tells me he loved me from the moment he saw me, but I still doubt it.
“I feel like for my mental health, I need to leave this relationship, but what if he is the One? My self-esteem is not in a good place right now. Could it be that I am so used to men looking down on me and my body? And now that I found a man who loves me for me, I self-sabotage? What could be my blind spot?”
