KZN-born actor Thembinkosi Mthembu, 29, is fast cementing his name as one of South Africa’s most talented thespians. Known for his critically acclaimed roles as Mabutho in The River and his portrayal of King Dingiswayo, the son of King Jobe of the Mthethwa, formerly known as Godongwana in Shaka iLembe, Mthembu recently joined Podcast And Chill for a sitdown along with his compatriot Wiseman Mncube.
During the sit-down, Mthembu briefly touched on his sister’s tragic passing, admitting that he is still struggling to come to terms with the loss. “To be honest, I haven’t healed from my sister’s passing. I tried, but I haven’t forgiven the perpetrator. It is something that I am constantly evading,” shared the actor.
Mthembu revealed that his sister, who worked in the police force, was shot by an ex-boyfriend at her office. “Her co-workers allowed him in because they were dating from college. He shot my sister and then killed himself,” he said.
Wiseman Mncube, who plays Zwide, son of the feared Queen Ntombazi and King Langa in Shaka iLembe, also opened up about losing a loved one. Mncube lost his wife, something he still struggles to come to terms with each day. As a coping mechanism, he avoids talking about it so he doesn’t trigger old wounds. “When I heard the news, I was on set filming a scene,” he shared in part.
