Wiseman Mncube, a South African actor currently in high demand, emphasizes that his success did not happen overnight.
In 2016, Mncube made his television debut in the drama series The Kingdom-UKhakhayi where he portrayed the character Mfanufikile. After gaining popularity, he joined the e.tv telenovela Gold Diggers.
However, his most notable role came when he played Mqhele in The Wife. Mncube joined the acclaimed series in its third season, replacing Bonko Khoza. His outstanding performance in this role caught the attention of the creators of Shaka iLembe, who then cast him as Zwide.
After the successful first season of Shaka iLembe, Mncube announced that he would take on a lead role in a new drama called My Brothers Keeper, which is set to replace the popular telenovela Gomora.
Reflecting on his recent achievements, Mncube stressed that his success resulted from persistent effort and dedication. He shared a photo of himself with the caption, “If you really look closely, most overnight successes take a long time. I’m proud of this journey. Well done, king.”
My Brother’s Keeper is set to debut on DStv starting Monday, October 23rd, at 19:30. The telenovela steps in to fill the void left by the conclusion of Gomora now wrapping up its fourth season.
Boasting a cast of skilled and renowned actors, the new drama includes talents like Wiseman Mncube, Zola Nombona, S’dumo Mtshali, Lindani Nkosi, Nelisa Mchunu, and Rosemary Zimu. Produced by Rhythm World, the production team behind Umkhokha, My Brother’s Keeper unfolds the narrative of a family entangled in a lethal power struggle.
Centered around Nqubeko, portrayed by Wiseman Mncube, the determined and ambitious son of a mistress who is weary of being relegated to the sidelines by his father, the story follows his transgression of the customary ‘ukungena’ rules. Nqubeko’s pursuit of power leads him to his brother’s widow, Fakazile (played by Zola Nombona), the woman wielding control over the Shabalala family empire.
