The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) will be moving forward with an investigation into Dr Nandipha Magudumana.
This comes after the HPCSA was made aware of the numerous allegations levelled against the aesthetics practitioner in relation to her involvement with fugitive Thabo Bester.
On Tuesday, 11 April, the council said apart from the ongoing police investigations into Dr Nandipha, the HPCSA will launch its own investigation to determine if the doctor is guilty of misconduct.
HPCSA spokesperson, Christopher Tsatsawane said they would cover all basis to determine if Dr Nandipha violated professional medical conduct.
“As a regulator for the healthcare professions, registered under the Health Professions Act 56 of 1974, the HPCSA will institute its own investigation into the matter.
The HPCSA will work with the South African Police Service, Department of Health at provincial and national levels, Department of Home Affairs, and the Department of Correctional Services to ensure the investigation is comprehensive.”

Dr Nandipha’s medical license expired in 2021 after she failed to renew her license which allows her to practice. This despite the doctor still running her aesthetics clinic, Optimum Medical Aesthetics Solutions, in Morningside, Sandton.
Meanwhile, the doctor who was arrested in Tanzania together with convicted rapist and murderer, Thabo Bester, is expected to be deported back to South Africa within two weeks.
Dr Nandipha’s father, 65-year old Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, was one of the suspects arrested for aiding and abetting fugitive Thabo Bester and his disgraced daughter.
Sekeleni faces charges of murder, aiding an escape, arson, defeating the ends of justice and fraud.
