The East London Magistrate’s Court ruled on the use of video footage of Malema discharging a firearm.
The State submitted the footage as evidence in the Julius Malema and Adriaan Snyman trial.
The authenticity of the video of the EFF leader Julius Malema discharging a firearm at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in 2018 was questioned by the defense.
The two are charged with contravening the Firearms Control Act.
This happened after footage of Malema firing an automatic rifle at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium emerged.
Magistrate Twanet Olivier stated that graphics, audio, and visuals are regarded as evidence.
The question of the authenticity of the video footage submitted by the state will be reached based on all the available evidence including the testimony of the accused.
