The ripple effect of load shedding on the City’s water supply forces Rand Water to find a more stable solution.
Eskom announced that stage 5 load shedding will continue to be implemented from this morning until further notice.
The struggling power utility announced at short notice yesterday that it would be escalating the stages of load shedding.
Rand Water says it’s working on a plan to have a stable power supply to reduce interruptions on the water supply.
The bulk water supplier says load shedding has had a negative impact on its reservoirs.
It says municipalities are also severely affected as there isn’t sufficient time between the scheduled blackouts for the reservoirs to fill up.
Residents in some parts of Johannesburg and Tshwane are navigating life without water due to the situation.
Speaking on Point of View last night Rand Water Spokesperson Makenosi Maroo says they also occasionally experience power trips.
