“Doppelganger murder”: A woman reportedly found a look-alike on social media, killed her and faked her own death.
Prosecutors claim that the 23-year-old German-Iraqi woman, only known as Sharaban K, searched social media for a doppelganger before killing her as part of a plot, according to The Guardian.
German prosecutors think a young woman participated in a complex murder conspiracy in order to fake her own death.
Local media have nicknamed the crime the “doppelganger murder.”
The woman and her friend have now been given arrest warrants on suspicion of murder, according to police in the southern city of Ingolstadt, which is located about 50 miles north of the regional capital of Munich.

Police spokesperson Andreas Aichele confirmed with NBC News that the accused 23-year-old female planned to start a new life due to family problems.
“Investigations revealed contact to several young ladies during a period of few weeks. Investigators assume that under a pretext she managed to organize a meeting with the later victim.
“Together with the 23-year-old male she traveled to the Heilbronn region to pick her up and carry out the planned murder,” Aichele added.
