Instagram influencer Tshepang Mollison, better known as Twiggy Moli has apologised for her comment that footballer, “Cristiano Ronaldo is a p**s” on Supersport.
This after a video with the personality poignantly expressing her opinion on the Portuguese striker went viral, sparking huge social media backlash on the sporting channel.
According to Twiggy Moli, the clip was from a rehearsal and should not have been shared to social media.
In response to the question who she wants to win this World Cup between Ronaldo and Messi, Twiggy responded, “Messi because Ronaldo is a p**s!”
There was shock by others in the studio, with another asking, “Can you even say that?”
To which Twiggy responds, “I just did!”
Supersport was forced to also issue an apology to its viewers reiterating that the moment was part of a rehearsal and not meant for public viewing.
Disclaimer: The video below contains explicit language.
In her apology, the content creator said, “I would like to apologise unreservedly for my unfortunate use of profane language in a recorded rehearsal that ended up going viral on the TL.
The past few days have been the most difficult for me, and I acknowledge that the public outrage that followed, despite how hurtful it was for me, was legitimate.
To those who follow my work, I have let you down and I aim to do better and I look forward to getting back to creating great content.”
Twiggy Moli’s apology on Ronaldo insult
However, many football fans are not convinced that her apology is sincere and have ridiculed Superspor for hiring influencers who know nothing about the sport to offer commentary pre and post matches.
Ronaldo is one of the most decorated football stars of his time, and Twiggy Moli’s unqualified opinion of the 37-year old who has already set a new World Cup record has earned the sports channel major criticism.
“The least Supersport can do is choose people who actually know something about football to have discussions about the World Cup.”
“This is what happens when you hire influencers to drive up your ratings!”
“Another fail for Supersport. Please get professional analysts instead of pretty faces who know nothing!”
