The Eswatini government has slammed accusations that King Mswati III killed Hillary Gardee.
On Monday, 01 August, Hillary’s father, former EFF secretary-general, Godrich Gardee claimed the Eswatini ruler had ordered the hit on his daughter.
Hillary went missing in Nelspruit on 29 April, and her body was found near a timber plantation, just outside Mbombela on 3 May.
Godrich Gardee claimed that his daughter was murdered because the EFF closed four borders between SA and Swaziland on 12 April.
He says the borders were closed for more than 6-hours, which meant the was no income for the Eswatini government.
Gardee claims that King Mswati was angry and unleashed his foreign intelligence service with a robbery decoy to kill his daughter.
Claims the Eswatini government has distanced itself from.
In an interview on SAFM, Eswatini government spokesperson, Alpheous Nxumalo slammed Gardee’s claims, saying he would not dignify the allegations with a response.
“Our government does not have a history of running after people, taking people down because they toyi-toyi at the borders. I don’t know why Mr Gardee regards himself so highly politically. These claims have got absolutely no truth in them and our government cannot dignify it by giving comment.”
Alpheous Nxumalo, Eswatini government spokesperson slammed Godrich Gardee’s accusations
Nxumalo said Hillary Gardee’s death was a result of South Africa being infested with a “cancer of criminality”, which is unfortunate but not a new development.
He further stated that there are suspects in court for the crime that was committed and called for Gardee to allow the justice system to follow due process.
“Mr Gardee, as a parliamentarian, should be working on bringing legislation that will reduce the level of crime in SA. Instead of constructing conspiracy theories about how his own daughter fell victim of a criminal infested atmosphere in the republic.”
