Three suspects have been arrested, including a former Eswatini politician in the high-profile Hillary Gardee murder case.
Police made the arrest of a 39-year old man on Friday, while the other two suspects were arrested on Saturday and Sunday morning.
According to reports, one of the men arrested is a former Eswatini civil servant, cum-politician who was exiled to South Africa.
The suspect works in the Mpumalanga legislature and owns the guesthouse that was raided by police on Friday night.
With the arrests of the three men, comes speculation that Hillary Gardee was killed for political reasons.
Her death comes after her father, former EFF Secretary-General, Godrich Gardee, launched a Banks Class Action to investigate the crime of banks, including discrimination against black people.
There were also talks that the party’s border policy was the reason Hillary was shot and killed execution-style.
Hillary went missing on 29 April whilst shopping at a Nelspruit supermarket. She was accompanied by a 3-year child whom she was planning on adopting.
Her body was discovered by timber plantation workers, 45km outside Nelspruit, in Mbomela on Tuesday, 3 May.
She was laid to rest on Saturday at Kamagugu township in Nelspruit.
The three suspects are expected to appear at Nelspruit Magistrates Court, in Mpumalanga on Monday, 9 May.
EFF party members will be accompanying the Gardee family to court to closely monitor proceedings.
