The entertainment industry in South Africa has been hit by another tragic suicide, as actor Siyabonga Zubane has died.
At just 23-years old, the young actor is reported to have taken his own life.
Reports of his death were confirmed by a family member who shared news of Zubane’s tragic passing.
According to the publication, Siyabonga Zubane was struggling with depression in an industry that brought him many hardships.
He played a car hijacker and thief in the local TV series. His on-screen character did not reflect who the young star was off camera.
Described as a sweet, and loving, shy-guy who was respectful, his family say the news of his passing is hard to accept.
“He had such big dreams to grow in the industry and was working on making his aspirations a reality.”
Zubane made his debut TV role in 2017, as Bhungezi on Isibaya. He becomes the third South African in the entertainment industry to have died by suicide this year, following the suicides of Patrick Shai and Riky Rick.
Tributes poured in for the Gomora actor on Sunday morning.
