About five months ago, DJ and music producer Lamiez Holworthy decided to stand up for herself against bullies on social media.
This came after an image of her with her mates in the music industry, including DJ Speedsta and Reece Madlisa, went viral. One of her followers body-shamed her, and she didn’t take it lying down.
She shared the same pictures she was ridiculed for and said she would not edit them to appear tinier.
“My name is Lamiez Holworthy, and this is ME in my purest form. I’ll be damned if I edit my pictures to appear tinier or to hide my cellulite or stretch mark or two.
“You know why? I am tired of women(young and old) putting themselves under unnecessary pressure because of social media, and its f…..d up standards! Imagine trying to look like someone who doesn’t even look like themselves?” She wrote.
Furthermore, she stated that she is fully aware of the millions of women, old and young, who follow her, so it is her responsibility to make them feel comfortable with their bodies.
“I am a public figure with millions of followers- most of who are women of all ages, and it is my responsibility to show them that it is OKAY TO BE NORMAL and that NO ONE can use your flaws against you. When you make peace with them.” Her post read in part.
This morning, Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku showed off her thighs and credited Lamiez for inspiring her to embrace her body.
