Four people were killed when a wall collapsed on a wedding party in GA-Chuene Thogwaneng in Limpopo at the weekend.
Police said people were seated in a tent joined to a building.
Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo told the Review Online that strong winds blew up the tent and in the process, the wall collapsed, instantly killing three people and injuring scores of others.
Twelve people were seriously injured and taken to hospital. “One of them succumbed to their injuries in hospital, bringing the total number of deceased to four,” he said.
Mojapelo said the police have opened an inquest. Investigations are continuing.

Operation O Kae Molao
Meanwhile, 85 people have been arrested for drunk driving on Gauteng roads. Police said in total, 950 people were nabbed during weekend operations all under the banner of Operation O Kae Molao.
Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondon said more than 300 suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from car hijacking, attempted murder, robbery, dealing in liquour without license and driving while under the influence.
“Nearly 260 were nabbed by the police in Ekurhuleni District for crimes such as theft, murder, possession of drugs, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen goods and driving while under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
In the West Rand and Johannesburg Districts, police arrested 240 suspects for crimes ranging from murder, possession of drugs, and other crimes.
Masondo said more than 167 suspects were arrested in the Sedibeng District for crimes that include rape, murder, possession of suspected stolen goods, contempt of court, housebreaking and theft.
All arrested suspects will appear before the different Magistrates’ Courts in Gauteng in due course.
