Thuso Mbedu is on the cover of yet another American magazine. The actress graces the cover of W Magazine’s ‘Pop’ issue.
“Introducing the next cover star of our Pop Issue, @thuso.mbedu! As Cora in ‘The Underground Railroad’ Mbedu not only delivered one of the most powerful performances in television, she also made history becoming the first South African actress to ever play the lead in an American series,” the magazine said.
Thuso wore outfits from top brands such as Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Burberry for the editorial.
“Look at me looking like I know what’s going on. This was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable day! Was surrounded by great and talented people with goooorgeooooous clothes!” she wrote on Instagram.

Despite her outstanding performance in ‘The Underground Railroad’ – which received praise from Oprah – Thuso was not nominated for an Emmy.
But she told the publication that learning about the history of slavery in America was enough of a prize.
“If I’m learning about all of this, then everyone who watches—and I know I have a lot of people from South Africa supporting me—will also be learning these things,” she told the magazine.

The Woman King
Thuso is ready to move on to her next big role. She will be starring alongside Oscar winner Viola Davis in ‘The Woman King’.
The movie looks at the West African female warriors of the Dahomey Kingdom.
The film will be shot in South Africa for location shoots that will depict Benin. Thuso has already started preparing for her fight scenes. She is undergoing weapons training and martial arts choreography.
“I want my fighting skills to be somewhere in the vicinity of my performance skills. With the performance, I do all the preparation, and then sort of stow it away and let it live in the moment. I want to get the fighting to a place where it would also come as naturally as possible.”
During a screen test interview for the cover, Thuso revealed her biggest celebrity crush.
Thuso has featured on several magazine international covers in the past year, including Backstage, Cultured, Deadline and Emmy.
