South African content creator and current affairs commentator Amahle Jaxa has earned her second qualification from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).
Jaxa, who is best known for her signature catchphrase, “How is it?”, shared the heartwarming moment from her graduation ceremony on social media, accompanied by an inspiring caption.
“I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a (girl) playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.” – Isaac Newton
“🏅🏅 2 down. 2 more to go,” she wrote.
Her post was met with an outpouring of love and support, with many of her followers praising her for balancing her studies while keeping South Africans informed about current affairs.
Her graduation comes just weeks after she revealed that she had received death threats following her comments on the March and March protest against illegal immigration.
Jaxa said that while illegal immigration is a legitimate concern in South Africa, there are better ways to address it.
She also argued that many South Africans are Afrophobic rather than xenophobic, claiming that some protests targeted Black foreign nationals while digital nomads continued living comfortably in parts of Cape Town.
On her TikTok account, Jaxa said South Africa has a governance problem and that foreign nationals are often used as scapegoats.
Her comments were received with divided opinion, with some followers unfollowing her and others allegedly threatening her life.
Despite the criticism and reported death threats, Jaxa maintained that she would not remove her video and stood by her views, saying Afrophobia would not solve South Africa’s governance challenges.
Despite these challenges, Jaxa kept her focus and successfully completed another academic milestone at Wits University.
