In the promo he maintained that he was still the Secretary General of the ANC. Phemelo Motene then asked about why he was still referencing to himself as the Secretary General even though he was suspended.
“Of course I was elected by conference, never mind the suspension. Next year in 2022 we are going to conference and we are looking forward to that.”
Responding to a question on why we should ‘never mind’ that he was suspended by the ruling party he is confident that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
“Well it’s part of the body politics of the ANC and I think there is further engagements through legal processess, we hope we will resolve these matters as time goes on.” he said.

The ANC Conference is the highest decision maker not the NEC
“Many within the ANC have argued that the highest decision maker in the ANC is the national conference, it is not the National Executive Committee. The National Executive Committee comes in between conferences, but conference resolutions are sacrosanct, you can’t change them. That’s why we are arguing even in the court of law that the National Executive Committee has no power to change the resolutions of a conference which was attended by more than 5 000 delegates and is now changed by 86 people plus ex officios”
