It’s our birthday month and we’re celebrating 24 years of Kaya Magic with a look back at the top Kaya 959 songs.
The list is created in chronological order beginning with the year 1997, when Kaya 959 first flipped the on-air switch in August.
The late Brenda Fassi, more affectionately known as MaBrrr was the number 1 artist with Vulindlela.
International artists have also managed to reach the Kaya 959 listeners nod of approval.
Rihanna, Beyoncé and Khalid have managed to claim the number 1 spot in 2008, 2013 and 2019 respectively.
Fittingly, we have come full circle in 2020 with a South African artist claiming the title.
Sun el Musician featuring Msaki is at number 1 with his inspirational song, Ubomi Abumanga.
