February is the month of love but it shouldn’t only be limited to showing love to your significant other but should also be about showing some love to yourself.
Many adults often fall into the trap of comparing themselves to others – more especially now during the social media age. American author Mark Twain says that comparison is the death of joy.
There are some individuals out there who argue that we are socialised to be competitive, so comparing ourselves to others is only natural.
Thomas and Skhumba want to find out how often do you compare yourself to your peers and why do you do it.
Skhumba shares, “I used to compare myself with others and I’d go home and be sad about it. There was a point when I’d see another comedian and be like they are bigger than me. Right now I’ll never stand next to another comedian and compare myself. I’m happy with what I have.”
Thomas says there was also a time when he used to compare himself to others, but now he’d rather be inspired.
“There were times when I was working on weekends and wondering why I didn’t have a week-day slot. Now I’ll be inspired by good radio presenters than compare myself,” he shares.
