A few weeks ago, The Morning Show team spoke about Oscar Pistorius being eligible for parole. The topic led to the conversation around forgiveness from the victim’s side and the victims’ family in some cases.
“One side I feel we didn’t look at, and many people would probably say we shouldn’t, is the side of the offenders’ families.
“Criminals leave family members behind, and unfortunately, some families feel society’s wrath because of their sons and daughters’ crimes,” says Thomas.
“Do you have family members in prison? How easy or difficult is it to give them emotional and even financial support knowing they ended there because they committed a crime?” Asks the Morning Show team.
‘I still have friends this day in prison, It’s very emotional sometimes, Thomas. I wanted to visit but I didn’t – I don’t have a reason why. I still to talk to the guys,’ added Skhumba.

“I have an ex who’s been in prison for murder, and it’s hard because you think you know someone, but you don’t.
“The fact that you were with someone, and they did this thing when they were with you. People treat you as if you knew what he was planning,” said anonymous.
“They are three places where you don’t choose your relatives: prison, mortuary, and hospital. Now how do you forgive a wrongdoer? As people, we don’t erase memories. My brother was arrested and jailed, and I had to go there every week. You cannot forgive someone if you can’t forgive yourself, shared Pax in Randburg.
Anonymous revealed that she thought her brother was arrested only to find out that he was not.
“I also experienced the same thing; my younger brother shared the same name with someone who had committed a crime.
“I was in the army and devasted at the time, only to find out when I return home that it was not him,” she said.
What social media is saying
My cousin is doing 25 years, I stopped visiting him when he sent me a video of himself and his cell mates chilling watching tv. They literally converted the cell into a guest house. I stopped sympathising from that moment #ThomasAndSkhumba @thomasmsengana
