Springbok forward Trevor Nyakane has provided a health update after sustaining an injury during his side’s recent game against the Bulls.
Nyakane revealed that he ruptured his Achilles tendon, describing the injury as “very painful.”
He also shared that he has undergone successful surgery, saying, “I just went under the knife. The surgery was very successful, and the doctors were very positive afterwards. Now, it’s the road to recovery and staying positive on this journey.”
The seasoned player expressed his gratitude to fans and teammates for their overwhelming support during this challenging time.
In a heartfelt message, he wrote, “Thank you for all the messages and support from everyone. I really appreciate it ❤️❤️❤️. A very special thanks to my brothers who came to visit me, brought me food, supplies, took care of me, and, as always, shared good laughs 🤣🤣🤣, which are needed at times like these. @mr_mbonambi @ox_nche @fez_mbatha2, much love, brothers 🔥🔥🔥. @sharksrugby, I’ll be back soon.”
Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi recently paid a visit to Nyakane to show his support. Nyakane was forced off the field in the 12th minute of the Sharks’ match against the Bulls after twisting his ankle without any contact.
This injury adds to the growing list of setbacks for Sharks coach John Plumtree, as the Durban-based team is already dealing with a lengthy injury roster.
