Not only did Real Madrid secure their sixth Uefa Champions League title in the last ten years, but they have also announced the signing of one of football’s most exciting talents, Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid C.F. and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement under which he will become a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons.
Real Madrid statement on Kylian Mbappe
Mbappe has been linked to Real Madrid over the last few years, and club fans will be relieved that the two parties have finally put pen to paper.
In 2023, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal expressed interest in signing Kylian Mbappe from PSG for a reported R5.5 billion fee. According to Sky Sports, Al Hilal has submitted a bid to sign the player, who has a year remaining on his current contract.
Had Mbappe signed for Ah Hilal, he would have pocketed around R13.5 billion to play in the Saudi Pro League for a year.
While the allure of financial gain may seem enticing, the decision to go to Saudi Arabia was never as easy as many had been led to believe.
Real Madrid has always held a special place in Mbappe’s heart, and etching his name in their folklore is a goal he has pursued since the beginning of his career.
