A woman was left with a hefty dinner bill after her date refused to pay for her 23 family members on their first date.
In order to test the generosity of her date, the woman from Zhejiang, China decided to tag along her family on her date.
The bill totalled $3,100 or R46, 748 which the gentleman, identified as Mr Lui declined to cover.
The blind date was set up by Mr Lui’s mother who was concerned about his non-existent love-life. As is customary on a first date, most men offer to foot the bill and Mr Lui was no exception.
He told his date he would pay for their dinner, naturally assuming it would just be the two of them.
Little did he know that his date would tag along an entire “wedding party” along.
He was taken aback when he was waiting outside the restaurant to meet her and he noticed a crowd of people alongside.
Talk about red flags. Sizwe Dhlomo and the Kaya Drive team weighed in on this unconventional date.

Kaya Drive listeners thought the woman’s actions were over-the-top and didn’t blame the guy.
A few women said it’s understandable if she wanted a take someone with for safety. This should have been discussed with her date. Many felt that 23 other people however was extremely unnecessary.
Keneiloe Huma said it was presumptuous to expect the guy to pay for your dinner on a date. While it’s the chivalrous thing to do, more women are inclined to offer to pay these days.
