Residents in parts of Hammanskraal are bracing for a 32-hour water supply interruption starting tomorrow, Wednesday, 25 June 2025, as the City of Tshwane undertakes urgent repairs to a major pipeline.
The shutdown is scheduled to begin at 8AM on Wednesday and is expected to last until 4PM on Thursday, 26 June 2025.
Areas that will be without municipal water include Stinkwater, Trustfarm, and New Stinkwater (RDP).
According to the city, the interruption is critical to address major leaks along a main pipe that supplies water from the Soshanguve DD Reservoir to Stinkwater. These leaks are reportedly threatening the consistent water supply to thousands of residents.
“This 32-hour shutdown is necessitated by the need to effect urgent repairs to major leakages on a main pipe that supplies water to Stinkwater from the Soshanguve DD Reservoir,” the City of Tshwane stated.
The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will be overseeing the repair work, with a commitment to restore water supply immediately upon completion.
Residents in the affected areas are strongly urged to store enough water for household use in advance of the shutdown to minimise inconvenience.
