The Gauteng Political Killings Task Team has launched a hunt for the killers of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member Aaron Makola, 51, after discovering his body in Delmas on Thursday, 30 July.
Makola vanished from Bronkhorstspruit on 10 July, with his abandoned car recovered a day later.
The specialized unit assumed control of the investigation on 20 July following family briefings, with intelligence leads ultimately tracing his location to a bush in Delmas.
Preliminary findings confirm Makola was shot dead before his body was dumped. His family has since formally identified him.
Police confirmed that senior detectives are zeroing in on those responsible for the killing:
“Investigations are now at an advanced stage to identify and arrest those responsible for the murder, including the perpetrators and anyone who may have orchestrated the crime.”
The task team is continuing its enquiries to establish the motive and apprehend all conspirators behind the assassination.
