SA’s consumer inflation rose to 5.4% year-on-year in September.
According to figures released by Statistics South Africa on Wednesday, the country’s headline consumer inflation increased to 5.4% year on year in September from 4.8% in August.
This, according to StatsSA, the rate is at the same level as June this year.
“After three consecutive months in negative territory, annual fuel inflation jumped from -11,7% in August to 1,5% in September,” said StatsSA
The goal of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is to stabilize inflation at the middle of its target range of 3% to 6%. On November 23, SARB will reveal its next rate decision.

The bank maintained interest rates at 8.25% during its most recent policy meeting in September.
