Rand Water says its on track to complete the 1-month maintenance project on schedule, and will wrap up work at the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant on Tuesday, 30 July at 21h00.
A month of water interruptions affected residents of Johannesburg, as extensive maintenance of JHB Water’s infrastructure commenced from 22 June and was supposed to conclude on 29 July.
While work at the Eikenhof pump station, Zwartkoppies, Palmiet and the Daleside Booster station have been complete, this week marks the final phase of the maintenance project, which will end at Zuikerbosch.
Work on Zuikerbosch resumed on Monday 29 July and will take 40-hours ending on Tuesday night.
This maintenance work involves work on various valves, pipelines as well as electrical and mechanical assets.
The work will impact water supply to the Palmiet Pumping Station as pumping will be reduced to 76% during this period, implying that 24% of Palmiet’s pumping capacity will be affected.
