A listener has contacted The Best T in the City, seeking advice from other listeners. She says that her husband always walks away when she tries to discuss problems, which leaves many issues unresolved. This frustrates her because they never have a chance to work things out.
“My husband has this tendency of walking away when I bring up an issue or when I am upset about something. He will walk out and go for a drive only to come back and say “Sorry.”
“I know this is him trying to keep the peace and avoid things getting out of hand, but sometimes things need to get out of hand for us to hear each other out. I feel like once he says sorry it means we need to move on, and this has led to so many things being swept under the carpet.
“He is not a man of many words, but this makes him get away with so much. What is he even apologizing for if he just walks away? This assumes I am right, and it can’t be that I am always right. I feel his conceding fights, is going to make him passive- aggressive in the future. Or should I just be happy that he apologizes? Am I wrong for wanting us to fight things out?
