The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng has committed to strengthening its case against the 39-year-old suspect accused of the brutal murder of Likhona Fose.
This comes after Fose’s mutilated body was discovered earlier this month in an open veld by a passerby, who immediately alerted police.
The accused, Mduduzi Mnisi, appeared before the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 11 June 2025, for his bail hearing. He is facing a charge of murder.
Speaking on the matter, NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwana said: “Part of the information we will be assisting the investigating officer to gather includes profiling the accused. This will help determine whether the accused has any previous or pending criminal cases. If such information is uncovered, it will be presented in court to demonstrate that the accused has a history or capacity for committing violent crimes.”

Outside the court, a group of women from Durban Deep in Roodepoort gathered in protest, urging the government to intervene. They voiced concerns over rising crime in their community and said they fear for their children’s safety due to the presence of alleged criminals in their neighborhoods.

Deputy Minister of Police, Polly Boshielo, also commented on the investigation, stating that authorities have not yet determined whether the murder was a hate crime or linked to muti practices.
The case has been postponed to 18 June 2025, for a formal bail application which the state will oppose.
