According to reports, the BMW Nkonyeni was travelling in, hit a pothole causing a tyre to burst.
The vehicle rolled several times and is beyond repair.
MEC Nkonyeni, her driver and bodyguards were said to be rushing to an event in Danhauser, along the R66, north of the province.
