“All Eyes On Rafah” trends on social media after an Israeli airstrike targeted a tent camp, claiming the lives of 45 displaced Palestinians including women and children.
Graphic visuals of charred bodies and the dismembered remains of children have sparked a massive global outcry to stop the genocide in Rafah, Gaza.
On Sunday, 26 May the supposed safe zone housing thousands was bombed, igniting fires that quickly engulfed the tented camp site.
The strike occurred less than 200m away from the United Nations (UN) facility.
Verified visuals by Sky News painted a dark reality, however Israel labelled the attack a “tragic accident.”
Israeli Defence Force (IDF) Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari claimed that the intended targets were two senior members of Hamas, and that the tented camp site was close to their last location.
“Hamas has been holding our hostages in Rafah, which is why our forces are operating in Rafah. Hamas is holding our hostages in living hell across our border in Gaza, including in Rafah.
We will not stop fighting for their freedom.”
