The Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) in Gauteng has expressed objection to City of Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero’s intention to recruit foreign nationals to the JMPD to address linguistic hurdles in Hillbrow, Berea, and Yeoville.
Most recently, Morero proposed that the regional executive committee explore hiring properly documented foreign nationals to serve for the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department.

The EFF has said that there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that the JMPD and SAPS are failing to address crime in areas with high numbers of foreign nationals due to language barriers and that there is no evidence that recruiting documented foreign nationals will resolve this purported issue.

“There are numerous unemployed policing graduates in Gauteng”
“The EFF consistently maintains that the government should source scarce and specialized skills from other African countries and around the world to contribute to our economy. While policing is a valuable skill, it is not a scarce one. There are numerous unemployed policing graduates in Gauteng who could be quickly upskilled and integrated into the force.” said Gauteng EFF

“The EFF advocates for a harmonious society”
“The views of the City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor, Dada Morero in the ANC gathering do not represent those of the EFF Deployees in the municipality. The EFF’s position should not be misinterpreted as reactionary or opportunistic rhetoric aimed at fostering hate and bigotry against Africans in the country. The EFF advocates for a harmonious society where all individuals are treated with the dignity they deserve.” said EFF in a statement
