443 blocks of Cocaine worth R151 million were seized in Durban on Monday.
A significant intelligence operation resulted in the seizure of R151 million worth of cocaine at the harbor in Durban.
According to a spokesperson for the SAPS, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, this occurs as law enforcement officials at Durban Harbour keep up their crackdown on drug trafficking into South Africa.
Members were following up on intelligence on Monday, December 4, 2023, and kept an eye on a container on a Brazilian vessel.

When a multidisciplinary team from a cold storage facility examined the container, they discovered 433 blocks of cocaine wrapped in meat boxes.
“Members were following up on intelligence and monitored a container that was on a vessel from Brazil. A multidisciplinary team inspected the container at a cold storage facility and found 433 blocks of cocaine disguised in meat boxes.
“No arrests have been made and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) has taken over the investigation. This is the third massive drug bust in two months at this harbor. In October, the same team seized cocaine worth R150 million,”
“These men and women in blue are determined to disrupt and dislodge the work of international organised crime syndicates involved in the drug trade,”
