A closed valve has been blamed for Johannesburg residents going 11-days without water.
This was the reason given to frustrated residents by Johannesburg Water (JHB Water) on Wednesday. 13 March.
According to JHB Water, technical teams conducted investigations on Tuesday, and discovered a Rand Water valve had been closed.
As a result the supply into the system was restricted, particularly a the Linden 1 & 2 and Kensington B systems.
“Upon investigations on Tuesday, 12 March the technical teams discovered a Rand Water valve that had been closed, thus restricting supply into the system.
The valve has since been opened.
Rand Water will continue with further investigations.”
While the opening of the closed valve did assist with building capacity at the Linden 1 reservoir and tower, and Linden 2 reservoir, the Kensington B reservoir and tower and Blairgowrie reservoir are still critically low to empty.
