Hundreds of South Africans in support of Palestine joined the Alliance-led picket at the Israeli embassy in Pretoria on Friday, 20 October.
The party along with various civil organisations stand in solidarity with Palestine and are calling for the end to Israel’s genocide campaign against Palestinian civilians.
This comes after the Israel-Palestine conflict took a deadly turn since Hamas reportedly took at least 200 hostages from Israel, killing an estimated 1 400 people.
An airstrike on a Gaza hospital where displaced Palestinian people were using as a safe haven was the response, which the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) denies they were responsible for.
Since then, Israel has launched daily bombardments of hospitals, mosques, schools, and residential districts in Gaza, taking a firm stance that unless Hamas releases all hostages, they will not stop.
Humanitarian aid, which includes medical supplies, food and water have been restricted into the Gaza strip for days, due to Israeli-led blockades.
Addressing the large gathering of protesters, ANC deputy secretary general Nomvula Mokonyane called for the Israeli embassy in SA to be shutdown, and called for a boycott of Israeli products in the country.
The ANC has accused Israeli embassy of arrogance, saying their unwillingness to engage amicably about the conflict in the Middle East is unacceptable.

Meanwhile, the EFF will also stage a picket at the Israeli embassy in Pretoria on Monday, 23 October.
The red berets say it is no longer enough to pay lip service to the cause of the people of Palestine, while Israel receives millions of dollars of funding from the USA to enact a genocide against the Palestinians.
The South African Zionist Federation has hit back at the South African government for taking sides in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Patriotic Alliance Leader, Gayton McKenzie stood in solidarity with the South African Zionist Federation slamming government for their stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
