Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been sworn in as a member of Parliament.
Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been sworn in as a Member of the National Assembly representing the Economic Freedom Fighters.
Mkhwebane, who joined the Red Berets on Monday, wrote that she identified with the party’s “seven cardinal pillars” and thus signed the membership form.
Before her term as public protector concluded last month, Mkhwebane was dismissed from office.
The event took place the day after Kholeka Gcaleka, her former deputy, was named the next Public Protector by the National Assembly.
The political party has been on a mass recruitment drive and Mkhwebane is yet another high-ranking figure to join the EFF in recent months.
Most recently former government communications boss, and Jacob Zuma Foundation spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi, and former Ukhozi FM host Linda ‘Mr Magic’ Sibiya also joined the party.
