The end of a relationship may not necessarily bring closure.
It could lead to feelings being left up in the air, creating an unhealthy sense of longing, and heaven forbid you start thinking about your ex.
Depending on the circumstances, such as whether it was a mutual decision, or if things ended on a bad note, feelings often go unresolved.
It’s normal to feel a sense of regret about the relationship ending, and having their presence in your life. Building a life together often revolves around a routine that one or both of you become accustomed to.
When that ends, it can be difficult to pick up the pieces and block them out of your life and mind completely.
So, if you’re still thinking about your ex, it could be a sign that you might be holding onto some unrealistic hope of reconciliation.
Examine your feelings
Take a deep dive into what you’re feeling, and ask why you’re still thinking about your ex?
- Is it because you miss them?
- Do you feel angry about how things ended and wish it ended differently, or not at all?
- Are you worried that they’ve moved on and you haven’t?
- Have you put your life on hold and feeling despondent about what you’re doing since your breakup?
While it’s okay to reminisce, remember there’s a reason why your relationship didn’t work. As much as there may be good moments, the red flags were definitely that noteworthy and can’t be overlooked.
